A life-long resident of Bradford County, Chad Farnsworth began his career in education as a teacher and coach at Bradford Middle School. As a teacher at BMS, Chad was named Bradford County’s “Teacher of the Year.” He was then called upon to assume an administrative role managing all discipline for Bradford Middle School. Following that assignment he went on to become Assistant Principal at Bradford High School, focusing on curriculum and staff development.  In 2012 Chad Farnsworth was elected Bradford County Superintendent of Schools, making him the youngest Superintendent in Florida at age 36.

Chad is a graduate of Bradford High School, holds an Associate of Arts degree from Santa Fe College, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Telecommunication from the University of Florida, and a Master of Education degree in Educational Leadership from the University of North Florida.

He grew up in a family committed to improving the educational opportunities for students in Bradford County. His mother, Brenda retired in 2005 after teaching at Bradford Middle School for 35 years. His father, Pat was a local business and community leader. Pat was also co-founder of our local Communities in Schools organization & Take Stock in Children program, which both continue today to strengthen educational opportunities in Bradford County. Chad and his wife Jennifer are actively involved in the Take Stock in Children Program as mentors to several students.  

Chad and his wife, Jennifer, live in Starke, Florida with their two beautiful daughters.  Chad has served the educational community in volunteer capacities as a mentor with both Take Stock in Children and Communities in Schools, and as a board member of the Bradford County Education Foundation.  He is also an active member of the Florida Association of District School Superintendents.
